The Spanish Trail Golf and Country Club opened in 1984 and is one of the oldest golf courses in Las Vegas. The unique three 9-hole courses can be played in three distinct 18-hole, par-72 combinations. The legendary golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones, Jr., personally designed this extraordinary 27-hole masterpiece. Tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, 15 lakes with streams and waterfalls, 120 bunkers and sweeping mountain vistas create a golf experience like no other.
There are 3 nine hole courses that can be played seperately or in 18-hole combinations. The following is a description of the 3 different courses from the Spanish Trail website.
The Sunrise Course features large greens and rolling fairways with the signature 9th Hole waterfall next to the clubhouse. Using the championship tees, the course measures 3,426 yards. The course also features one of the most challenging par three holes on the PGA Tour when they hosted the Las Vegas Invitational in the late 1980's.
The Canyon Course is the longest at 3,576 yards and is considered the most challenging. The course has two beautiful par threes which includes the second hole with a goregous waterfall located next to the green. The finishing stretch of holes 7, 8 & 9 are said to challenge even the best golfers.
The third course was named the Lake Course because water comes into play on six of the nine holes. The greensides are guarded by water on five of six holes, with forced carries over water on several other holes. One of the most beautiful par five holes (hole #2) in Southern Nevada is a 601 yard, water-protected green next to a waterfall.
